Using smartphone for astrophotography with Canon 10×30 image stabilised binoculars

Last night I took my wife to see Donny Osmond at the NEC in Birmingham. What has this got to do with astronomy, you may ask? The answer is that I tried holding up my Samsung S7 to the binoculars and obtained some amazing shots. I will present here a shot without binoculars and one through the binoculars so you can see what I mean. Amazing! Remember this is hand held without any means to hold either binoculars steady or phone steady relative to the binoculars. I have a smart phone adapter for attaching one to an eyepiece at home that I won at a RAG Christmas Quiz one year in the raffle. I wonder if this would hold the camera steady. I have got to give this a go for night sky shots! Might need tripod though…..i wonder….
