The IAS this year was a great event. A number of members of RAG attended – the big thing this year was the UK launch of Daystar’s new sodium line filter and we had an opportunity to observe the Sun with it outside. Many talks on astrophotography. On the negative side, Brexit had clearly added 20% to all prices – yipes! – and there were few bargains to be had…..although I was very pleased when I picked up an excellent second hand Televue Ethos 6mm!!

RAG was present at this event – a great success with a lot of the public present! You will see Damian’s pictures of the planets on spikes in the photos below – the idea of these is that (on cloudy outreach days), observers can train the telescopes at the photos (which are placed at various distances from the scopes) – I used this to great effect personally today. Great idea from Damian!
